Being one of the National Teaching Excellence Project winners, China Medical University (CMU) has now joined the world’s top 500 Universities, along with National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Cheng Kung University, National Chiao Tung University, Chang Gung University, National Yang-Ming University, National Sun Yat-Sen University and National Central University. The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) latest announcement was released on August 15, 2012, by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Out of the above-mentioned nine universities in Taiwan, CMU is the only university from Central Taiwan. Also, it is one of the universities with the most improvement. All the faculties and the students were thrilled when they heard that CMU had achieved this milestone.

Becoming one of the best universities in the world is what China Medical University/Hospital has always tried to accomplish. Chairman of China Medical University Hospital, Prof. Chang-Hai Tsai, is very grateful to the President of China Medical University, Prof. Jong-Tsun Huang, along with the entire faculty and students of the university/hospital, for all the hard work they have put into achieving this goal.

China Medical University Hospital has a very experienced medical team which specializes in clinical teaching and critical care treatment, especially in cerebral vascular accident and traumatic injury, both areas winning the National Biotechnology and Medical Care Quality Award in 2009 and 2008 respectively, a standard that is considered number one in Taiwan as well as Asia. In recent years, CMU has been working with top universities abroad to establish international research centers. Furthermore, CMU has been publishing cancer and endemic diseases research papers in top international periodicals. Together with the established hospitals in Central and North Taiwan, the opening of the Tainan Municipal Annan Hospital at the end of 2012 would enable the China Medical University Hospital system to stretch its facilities further to South Taiwan, providing excellent medical services for patients and also job opportunities for the younger generation.

Chairman Prof. Chang-Hai Tsai said with determination and confidence “Enjoy the accomplishment for only one day, because starting tomorrow our goal will be to reach the world’s top 400!”
