Date: September 1, 2016

As the summer vacation slowly approaches to the end, students begin to recap the exciting and meaningful events that they have experienced throughout the past two-month holiday period. As for the students of Post-Baccalaureate Chinese Medicine of CMU, they have a lot of stories to share.

Medical Service Student Volunteers (MSSV) are a group of student volunteers from School of Post-Baccalaureate Chinese Medicine that focuses on fulfilling medical students’ social obligations by providing Chinese medicine health educations to the mass public. Through these volunteering experiences students can also strengthen their Chinese Medicine clinical knowledge and experience. The focus of this department simultaneously benefits the students themselves and, also, the health of the society in which we live.

At the end of August, MSSV took their visit to BeiShiLiao and ShiAnLi Community Centers located in Tainan along with 6 other board certified Chinese Medicine doctors and provided the locals with volunteer medical consultations using various Chinese Medicine diagnosis techniques, including acupuncture, physiotherapy, and Chinese medication administrations. CMU Post-Baccalaureate Chinese Medicine students also took this opportunity to visit the local Dong Gou Elementary School in an effort to promote the knowledge of Chinese Medicine to young children.

Medical Service Student Volunteers have conducted numerous medical visits. These volunteer students practice the common ideology of the department by providing medical services and spreading medical knowledge to areas where public medical services are limited. More volunteer visits will be planned in the future by MSSV.
