New Era Launches-Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for the CMU Shui-Nan Industry-Academia Campus

Shovels hit the ground on June 11th 2018 during a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the start of the construction on the new CMU Shui-Nan Industry-Academia Campus. Chairman Tsai Chang-Hai, board members Lin Jaung-Gen, Chen Chih-Che, Chen Jung-Tsung, Chen Yi-Hsiung, Chancellor of CMU Lee Wen-Hwa, the Superintendent of CMUH Cho Der-Yang and faculty members took part in this ceremony. Chairman Tsai confidently announced that this revolutionary project signified a major milestone for CMU. There will be many world-famous architects including the Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Frank Owen Gehry along with landscape designers co-organizing this site. The new campus is expected to be a new landmark in Taiwan and the world.

The base of the Shui-Nan Campus will be 160,000 square feet and this master facility plan is scheduled in three phases according to the long-term and mid-term school development goals. Currently four areas have been planned: the Teaching and Continuing Education Center, International Medical Research and Service Center, Geriatric Medicine and Care Center, and Industry-Academia Cooperative Center. During the first phase of the project, three main school buildings including the Education and Administration Building, Innovative Teaching & Research Center and Health Products Display Center will be completed before August 2020.

During the speech, Chancellor of CMU Lee Wen-Hwa noted that CMU has cultivated more than 40,000 medical professionals in the past six decades in Taiwan. The school is committed to creating a model environment for future medical development. The new campus will not only signal a new era of excellence but also engage more medical learners all over the country and the world.
