Austrian Delegation of Higher Education visited CMU

On November 16th Dr. Wogowitsch Margit of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research, led the Austria Delegation of Higher Education to visit China Medical University (CMU). The delegation included representatives from the Medical University of Graz, University of Vienna, and the Medical University of Innsbruck.

During the meeting both CMU’s President Jong-Tsun Huang and Christina Schoenbacher, Head of the International Relations Office at the Medical University of Graz, signed an agreement to establish a clinical elective student exchange program amongst the two universities. This agreement implies that both universities hope to welcome and send future medical students to the perspective universities.

This agreement was a result of a multi-year processes in which both Universities had sent delegations to each other’s campuses. The partnership with Medical University of Graz formed during Vice Rector Professor Gilbert Reibnegger’s visit to Taiwan in 2008. During this visit the universities signed a collaboration agreement, . In 2009 CMU formed a delegation to visit Medical University of Graz in Austria. The purpose of this visit was to have discussions about further collaboration on research and students exchange.

During the signing ceremony the delegates discussed the unique attributes of CMU’s Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine Programs and the future possibilities of exchange. Assistant Professor Peter Mayer also attended this meeting. He shared his own experiences as a German student at the School of Chinese Medicine and welcomed the future foreign students from the University of Graz to learn about Traditional Chinese Medicine at CMU.
 

Dr. Wogowitsch Margit expressed her gratitude for CMU’s hospitality and stated that it was a fruitful visit. It will be exciting to watch the partnership between the two Universities grow as future students learn about new cultures, countries, and medical practices.
